Yes she has little curls and she calls then her coos! I love her and yes every minute is worth every special joy she brings now. I hope to see you over Christmas!

Sue / Saturday, December 5 2009 07:50 PM

I love ALL the pictures! You really did have snow! Raileigh has grown SO much! I know that every second of the first year was worth the fun you are having now. I love her hair, and did I see curls in one of the pictures? We are still not in our new house yet. The latest promise was "before Christmas"; so last weekend I finally broke down and started packing - and if I have to live in the midst of boxes, especially THROUGH Christmas?!!!! It won''t be good. I love ya. Thanks for sharing.

jamie, duane gave me your website yesterday when donna and i went over there to be patients of duanes! Raileigh IS BEAUTIFUL!!! I saw her baby pic when she was born and i think she looks like you and patrick-mom has been updating me on the baby and last i heard she was doing really well then fran tells us about her drs appt. WELL--i will also help you with calling the health ins company-it is frustrating when people like us are paying out the butt for premiums and we have to go through that crap! scott''s paycheck is deducted 400$ a month and the company he works for pays more than that on our part. You and patrick have a gorgeous daughter and i am praying for her and know she is going to be just fine! You can see it in her eyes-she is a strong little cookie! I want you to hang in there and know god is going to take care of her!! I loved reading your journals-keep it up! I talked to aunt carol last night and told her that i would be glad to fly there and help you! my friend who had twins a few years ago, she was begging for everyones help and she too was not sleeping, the difference in that situation is her husband was no help at all and patrick is father of the year! you found a great one and he is a keeper. well, my spelling and capitalization and all that is not perfect but that is the only way i can type faster. I am sending prayers your way and look forward to reading about raileigh! love, cousin lori

Grandma / Saturday, October 4 2008 03:02 AM

You are so funny and you know I am a grammar freak, but I would never touch this. I will be glad to make phone calls for you if you give me the insurance information, along with everything else I will need. When you call the BCBS, get names of everyone who decided to deny the claim. Ask for a medical review of all the claims and the names of the doctors and executives sitting in on the review. You can always contact the insurance commission but of course, this is just South Carolina''s ways and means of "getting with the insurance." Make notes before calling because they love to confuse you. Go on Dr. Phil because I love that man and your daddy thinks he is an idiot and needs to be committed. I am so glad Raileigh is getting better and you and Patrick continue to take such wonderful care of her. Always remember, you know your daughter better than anyone. I admire your spunk!! Yes, you are correct, we love reading all your entries, looking at the beautiful pictures you share with us. Please know that we love you three and will continue to keep you in prayer. Give little princess, Raileigh, a great big kiss from her Grandma and Papa Tip. You and Patrick can have one too. Tons of love, Grandma and Papa Tip

We are so glad to hear that the hole in her heart is much smaller. The less surgery, the better. Sounds like Miss Raileigh is doing well otherwise, too and we are soooooo happy about that. Hope everyone is doing well. All our love to you all. Smooches

She''s had more tests run on her than I''ve ever had for the writing off, we better get money back or I''m gonna take out ol'' Uncle Sam! Cause sheesh it''s expensive!

Duane & Chuck / Thursday, September 25 2008 02:59 PM

Dang! You guys should be able to write off all of these trips....mileage and doctor fees on your taxes. It seems like the Diva is fine when she is home and all the doctors just poke, prod and traumatize her. Stay strong and we will send more good energy your way for Miss Raileigh''s surgery and quick recovery. I think she has been tested for EVERYTHING under the sun now, right? We love you all. Smooches to our little Diva from both of us!

So we go to Driscoll ...

Duane & Chuck / Saturday, September 20 2008 09:15 PM

Well all the doctor trips have to be wearing all of your nerves very thin. We hope all goes well with the other appointments and just try to keep your energy up. I am sure that you and Patrick both could use a massage about now. Too bad I am not closer, or I would treat you to a great 2 hour massage! We love you all and always keep you in our daily thoughts. Smooches

Jamie / Friday, September 19 2008 06:37 PM

He talked to the nurse who talked to the doctor. Debbie didn''t make me put on my big girl panties, she held her anyways! WHEW then Debbie bought her a leapfrog toy to make it all better! :-D

Nana / Friday, September 19 2008 01:59 PM

Did Patrick talk to the doctor or the nurse? Forget the big girl panties. Do what you have to do to get through the lab work on the diva. Love you, Nana

And she''s at it AGAIN!

Lori, Natalie and Alyssa / Thursday, September 18 2008 05:39 PM

I know you are thinking, ...

Duane & Chuck / Wednesday, September 17 2008 06:14 PM

Well where to start. First, sorry for not posting sooner, massage school has been hectic lately. I just know that evacuation for a hurricane sucks....I have been there, but I can''t imagine evacuating with a baby. You know all 3 of you are in our thoughts and prayers daily! I hope you can sometimes feel the good energy that I am sending to you! Hopefully the new gastro will work out and at least he has alternate plans if this plan doesn''t work. Hey, we just went over SIDS in class last night while lecturing about the nervous system. They have linked SIDS to damage to the medulla oblongata due to cervical spine trauma at birth, so you shouldn''t have to worry about that. A chiropractor can examine Raileigh''s spine to be sure that there is no damage and can even adjust the spine if necessary, as long as the chiropractor is qualified for work with infants. I am not sure that many medical doctors really know what causes SIDS, but the steps you listed all sound like good ideas anyway(maybe a few of them are a little extreme because you can never shield a baby from everything without being completely OCD and going insane!). I mean, look at all we were exposed to as children (germs, broken arms, cuts, scrapes, barefoot outside, etc) and we were OK, and come to think of it, not sick THAT much! Kids have to develop an immune system sometime, right? Not sure how you guys feel about alternative and eastern medicine, but I am sure from your posts that you are frustrated with western medicine and physicians. I have seen some amazing things done for sick babies with massage, reiki, and even aromatherapy. Believe me, it won''t hurt miss Raileigh, and it will be a wonderful spiritual experience for you and Patrick as well. There is alot to be said about working with the body''s own healing energy through just laying on of hands. I have seen and read about "miracles" with sick children, adults and the elderly using energy work like Reiki. Just thought I would put that out there as another alternative for you or even in addition to other physicians. Not to even mention that massage, chiropractic, and reiki are much less expensive alternatives for some health issues. If you are interested in Reiki, go to this website ( just put in your zipcode to find some registered Reiki practitioners. Well....NOW I will get off my alternative medicine SOAPBOX. I just want my little cousin Raileigh to be healthy and happy without the pain from the reflux and other issues. Best of luck and ALL our love to the three of you whatever you decide! Smooches to the DIVA from us!;-)

Jamie / Wednesday, September 17 2008 04:55 PM

You are one smart man DADDY cause if I would have seen you roll ya eyes, I would be in jail for domestic violence lol

Nana / Wednesday, September 17 2008 02:40 PM

I love your posts and look forward to them. Did you really think Pat would not roll his eyes? Evacuating does suck, even without an infant. Try it with 5 children! Too bad you did not have a cardio with the brains of this gastro guy! Keep up the good work and thanks for keeping us posted with the Diva updates. Love you guys, Mom

Daddy / Wednesday, September 17 2008 11:02 AM

Ummmmm... for the record .... I DID roll my eyes, I just made sure Jamie was looking the other way first... sorry babe!

Grandma / Wednesday, September 17 2008 01:40 AM

Yes, the pediatrician did make me laugh. His medical terminology is very plain and I have referred to him as Dr. Mud Fart so much, I can''t remember his name but he is a good pediatrician and you will never have to worry about not being able to understand what he is saying. Do not be concerned about being insane; there is a fine line between being sane and insane and we all cross it occassionally. Sounds like you and Patrick continue to do a fantastic job with Raileigh. Thank you for the info on SIDS; I don''t think we knew much about SIDS when ya''ll were infants. We will continue to keep you three in prayer and giving thanks to God for keeping ya''ll safe, giving you both knowledge and strength. Hang in there and give Debbie my love and appreciation for being MeMaw. Sorry we are so far away. Love to all, Grandma

Way to go Jamie!!! Parents too often have to fight for what they know is right for their child. You and Pat are a great team. Keep up the good work. Love you. Nana

Grandma / Sunday, September 7 2008 09:25 PM

You and Patrick, first are blessed to have each other and Patrick is a wonderful husband and father and you, my child, are a wonderful wife and mother. Raileigh is a beautiful little angel and no one, I repeat no one, knows Raileigh as well as you and Patrick. It is alright to demand attention from your doctors; sometimes it takes getting upset to get their attention. You and Patrick will always have to be strong and demand certain things for her. You two are doing a wonderful job and I pray one day, everything will be on the normal side. Keep up the great job you two are doing as parents and give her a great big kiss from Grandma. As far as the grass ever being greener, it only happens over the septic tank (lol). Lots of love, Grandman

Duane & Chuck / Tuesday, August 19 2008 04:17 PM

Glad to hear things are getting much better! Your message sounds much calmer this time. I knew that you two would be great parents. Keep up the good work! We love you all.

Aunt Mitzi / Tuesday, August 19 2008 12:43 AM

I think you guys are doing great. Hang in there. You are a terrific mommy, and Patrick is a terrific daddy. All cardioiogists have below average emotional IQ''S. Their egos get in the way of their bedside manner. However, you are in charge because you are paying him. lol lol Remind him happiy mommies pay medical bills faster. lol her weight sounds great. I can''t wait to see her. I love all three of you

Grandma / Tuesday, August 19 2008 12:22 AM

We miss ya''ll too but give yourselves a pat on the back because you both are wonderful parents and are doing a wonderful job. Flexibility with you two has been a great plus because the feeding menu has been changed several times. Cardiologists have few interpersonal skills but I pray this will be short term and we can deal with anyone short term! May you get nothing but excellent reports on her from now on. Keep up the great parenting skills, sit back, clean up the spit ups, the diapers and most important, just love and enjoy her. She is such a beautiful baby girl and she is a good baby because she feels secure in her parents love for her. Remember all her little aaahhh''s and soon she will begin to coo and smile really big at both of you. She is very active and will be turning over, sitting up and crawling before you know it. Take care, lots of love to you three, Grandma PS: DO NOT GET OCD WITH THE SCALES, OKAY?

So I wake up at ...

Nana / Monday, August 18 2008 02:42 PM

Just remember "this too shall pass." I can''t imagine how tired you must be with everything you are doing right now. We all know she is perfect and that your cardiologist is nuts. Hang in there. Love you guys lots!!!

So I love her pediatrician ...

Preston / Thursday, August 14 2008 03:34 PM

Great to hear that Raileigh is plumping up. Keep up the good work. Next time Carrie can''t go to sleep, I''ll remind her that she can call you. It sounds like the heart doctor needs a swift kick in the butt...or somewhere.

Nana / Thursday, August 14 2008 02:09 PM

Good for you for going to see the pediatrician. He explained why the cardiologist wanted you to do things his way. I too hope you keep up with the breast feeding. Ultimately it''s much better for the diva. She will plump up like she should. Pat can help with the supplemental feedings so you can rest. Love you and keep up the good work. You are a good mommy.

Sue / Thursday, August 14 2008 02:05 AM

Wow, Jamie! I know you must be so so tired. Listen to the pediatrician. I have a feeling the heart doctor never fed a newborn. And, I have seen alot of healthy chubby breastfed babies. Stefani''s Riley for one. He was only breast fed, and got down right fat for awhile; but grew out of it by his first birthday. I hope you are continueing to breast feed, too. You know your child better than anyone; and it sounds like she is doing great. But since you are supplementing, let Patrick do those feedings - and you go take a hot bath, or a nap. Love ya, Sue

Duane & Chuck / Thursday, August 14 2008 01:56 AM

We like the pediatrician better too! You are doing a great job getting her to put on weight and that cardiologist needs to invest in a new scale! Keep up the good work you two and as always don''t forget to take care of yourselves too! Love you all.
